Celebrating GIAC's 40th Anniversary!
As a member of the GIAC family of friends and supporters, we ask that you help us honor GIAC’s forty years of service to the youth, teens, families and seniors of our community. To celebrate this important milestone, we are kicking off the new year by establishing the GIAC 40th Anniversary Fund. The purpose of the fund is to advance our mission by improving the quality of life for the people we serve through our core programs, such as the youth summer day camp, theatre trips for seniors, and the teen-run entrepreneurial venture “Poppin’ Collars”, just to name a few.
The newly renovated GIAC building serves the immediate neighborhood and the greater Ithaca area by providing a gymnasium, computer facilities, meeting rooms and classroom space for multicultural, educational and recreational programs focused on social and individual development. In addition to its programs, GIAC fulfills its mission by bringing together the resources of other community organizations and individuals, advocating for the concerns of youth and families, and serving as a voice for the underrepresented and disenfranchised. GIAC is a place for public forums, benefits, community celebrations and in times of sorrow and community reflection.
The GIAC community is united in seeking justice for all by addressing issues of race and class and when possible, providing a helping hand to those in need. GIAC is a safe place, a crisis center; it’s where “people come first”. During the deepening recession of the last few years, GIAC has been committed to meeting the increasing demand for its programs and services. Our Community's needs continue to grow and we need your help now more than ever. We invite you to join us as we prepare GIAC for the next forty years by contributing at whatever level you can afford. Your gift to the GIAC 40th Anniversary Fund will directly benefit GIAC’s mission and will have an impact on making our community a better place for generations to come.
With sincere appreciation and best wishes for a happy new year,
The Greater Ithaca Activities Center
